CID’s Feedback on the Draft Cambodian National AI Strategy

🚀 Shaping Cambodia’s Digital Future with Responsible AI! 🇰🇭

At the Cambodian Institute for Democracy (CID), we believe that a robust digital future must be built on the foundations of democratic values and human rights.

As the Cambodian government, led by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, drafts the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (NAIS), CID has been actively engaged. Beyond our contributions to AI literacy training across the nation, we’ve submitted detailed feedback on the draft NAIS.

Our recommendations strongly advocate for:

– Stronger integration of human rights, transparency, and democratic values.

– Embedding ethical safeguards in AI development.

– Protecting against mass surveillance and discriminatory practices.

– Fostering inclusive AI systems that benefit all citizens equitably.

We’ve also urged the alignment of Cambodia’s AI framework with international human rights standards, drawing upon best practices from countries like Canada, Singapore, and members of the European Union.

Through this vital engagement, CID reaffirms its dedication to cultivating a rights-respecting and inclusive AI ecosystem that truly advances Cambodia’s democratic and digital future.
